Blending Techniques

Blending makeup properly is an important step to achieving a flawless look.
Blending foundations, powders, bronzers, and blushes can prevent orange lines that can look like you have a mask on. Be sure to blend each of the products that you are wearing. Start by applying product in a well lit area. (Daylight is best, but if it's later on in the evening hours, try a well lit area). You can use the back of a foundation sponge (or a separate clean sponge) and using a light hand sweep the sponge upward over the forehead into the hairline. Next you can gently sweep the sponge across cheeks, outward toward the ears, and downward to the neckline. This will soften any makeup lines, helping you look more natural. If you feel that your colors are a bit strong, you can continue blending, this time using a little more pressure, until you have reached the desired look.
Blending eyeshadows are quite simple. You should always tap out any excess color before applying to the eye area, and after applying darker colors, you can take a clean brush that is soft, but firm, and lightly blend the outer lines of the shadow, and lightly blend the inner shadow. If you get shadow in an area that you don't want it, try wiping it with a Q-Tip to remove. For stubborn shadows, you can dip Q-Tip in makeup remover, and use a sponge to blend a small amount of foundation if necessary.
To blend lip color with pencil, try using a brush to go over pencil lines. If you want to fix lipstick smudges, just use a sponge, and apply a small amount of foundation, or concealor to the area, and blend.
